Dr. Keith Felton, Senior Pastor

Dr. Felton originally came to First Baptist Church in 1999 as the Minister of Young Adults and Missions.  He became the Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Hamilton, Texas, in 2004 but returned to FBC Frankfort in 2016, as the Minister of Missions.  In June of 2019, Keith accepted the call to be the Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church, Frankfort.

Keith graduated from Union University, Lexington Theological Seminary, and B.H. Carroll Theological Institute.  He was licensed to the ministry as a senior in high school and was ordained to the Gospel ministry by First Baptist Church Frankfort in 2001.  He is married to Sharon Kirkpatrick and they have three children, Carter, Dakota, and Maya.


Rev. Richard Summers, Associate Pastor of Music and Administration

Richard Summers came to First Baptist Church in June of 2002. He is a native of Paducah, Kentucky and a graduate of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and Georgetown College. Richard served churches in Dry Ridge, Kentucky, and Greenville, Kentucky, before coming to Frankfort.

Richard and his wife, Lois, have two grown children, Stephen (and Claudia) and Jenni (and Jeremy Shannon) and four grandchildren, Hannah Grace Summers, Crosley Lane Shannon, Asher Keith Shannon and Henry David Shannon.  Richard enjoys spending time with his family, flying, woodworking, and reading.

Michelle Carroll, Associate Pastor of Missions

Michelle joined the staff at First Baptist Church in July 2020.  She received a Master of Divinity from The McAfee School of Theology at Mercer University in Atlanta, Georgia in December 2018.  She focused her studies on missions, community development and transformation, and Christian social enterprise.  Michelle has previously served churches and non-profits in Georgia, Tennessee, and Indiana.

Michelle enjoys stories in all their forms—books, television, and movies.  She tries to garden, and is passionate about environmental stewardship and advocacy.

Rev. Marcus Pernell, Associate Pastor of Students

Marcus joined the staff at First Baptist Church in 2019 and was ordained that same year.  He received a Master of Divinity with a concentration on pastoral care and counseling from the Baptist Seminary of Kentucky in May 2018.  

Along with serving the church, Marcus has served as a Community Living Support (CLS) at Quest Farm, Inc. in Georgetown, KY, since 2016.  As a CLS, he works with two clients with intellectual and developmental disabilities and help them achieve independence with goals they’ve made.  Marcus describes the position as getting the opportunity to do life with folks and help them work on personal goals.

Rev. Pernell is also a level-1 certified CrossFit trainer and coach. 

Rev. Amanda Standiford, Associate Pastor of Children and Spiritual Formation

Amanda joined First Baptist’s staff in August 2020.  She is originally from Crestwood, Kentucky, and is a graduate of Murray State University.  She earned her Master of Divinity degree from the Baptist Seminary of Kentucky in 2014.  While in seminary, Amanda served as a children’s ministry intern at FBC.  Since then, she has also ministered in Danville, Kentucky.

Amanda is married to Adam and they have an adorable dog, Gavin.  She enjoys making art, reading, and time spent with family and friends.

Kara Johnson, Director of Communications

Kara Johnson is a native of Somerset, Kentucky, but has called Frankfort home since 1999.  She earned an accounting degree from Western Kentucky University and was formerly a governmental auditor.  Kara began working at FBC in 2016 in the office.  In 2021, she moved into the role of Director of Communications.

Kara and her husband, Jason, have one daughter, daughter, Caroline.  She enjoys spending time with her family, crafting, and taking long walks (especially on the beach).

Amy Carpenter, Office Manager

Amy Carpenter grew up in Lexington, Kentucky.  She graduated from the University of Kentucky, studying secondary education and political science.  Since graduation, Amy has pursued a profession of serving others through the work of several great nonprofit organizations across the Commonwealth of Kentucky.  Amy joined the staff of First Baptist Church in 2021.

When not working, Amy enjoys creative pursuits, walking, planning trips to Disney, trying desperately to keep the plants in her garden alive, and spending time with her family.  Amy is married to David; they are the proud parents of their son, Nathan, and the proud pet parents of their dog, Fitzsimmons, and cat, Shadow.
