At FBC we want to provide a safe and stimulating place for people to ask questions, explore, learn and grow on their journey of faith.

The study of scripture is vital to our ability to be the presence of Christ and reflect the nature of God. The Bible invites us to look at God, the world and even ourselves in ways that make it possible for us to reflect upon the meaning of life and our role in it.

This is why we take Bible study seriously, value each person’s perspective, and welcome everyone’s questions. We invite you to visit one or more of these groups that meet on Sundays at 9:45 a.m.

Cellar Dwellers:  Located in the Nexus room’s first classroom on the right. Teacher:s:  Dwight Lovan and Rick Mason

This class is made up of a diverse membership. Ages run from poised, mature 20 somethings to young and vibrant 70 somethings and all decades in between. Some are married couples, some unmarried, some divorced, some divorced and remarried, some single, etc. Most are parents of older children.

We most often have used Ethics Daily curriculum by engaging Biblical texts on the topic of discipleship and ethics.  Whatever we study is done in community with weekly smiles and laughter for all in attendance.

Charis: Located in the Nexus area across from fellowship hall.  Teachers:  Keith Felton and Ben and Jaime McKown.

Named after the Greek word for “Grace” this class is composed of younger adults, both married and single.  Some have children and some do not. We are a community that values discussion and building relationships with each other as we grow in our love and understanding of Christ.

We utilize Faith element curriculum which uses multimedia and discussion to provide relevant Bible Study in a changing world.

Discovery Class: Meets in the sanctuary which is handicapped accessible. Teacher: Doug McKinley

This class is open to all adults regardless of age or marital status. We use the Smyth and Helwys Formations literature. Our purpose is to pray for one another, read the scripture aloud, and apply God's Word to our everyday lives.

Golden Circle Class:  Located near the balcony entrance on the 2nd floor of the Moffatt education building. Teacher: Anne Wesley Mayes.

Women of all ages are welcome.

Study includes teachings from Scripture with life application. Smyth and Helwys Formations curriculum and Reflections devotional guide are our primary resource. We enjoy fellowship and friendship as well as prayerful support of one another.

Keystone Class: Located in the classroom inside the fellowship hall near the back entrance of the church.  Teachers: Ralph Divine and Scotty Campbell

The Keystone class is comprised of senior adult men age 60 and above.

Study includes readings from Scripture and discussion of materials provided in Smyth and Helwys Formations curriculum.

Mustard Seeds:  Located in the mustard yellow classroom behind the sanctuary. General age range: 30-50+ year olds, single and married. Teacher: Dan Hughes

This class typically uses two of the four lectionary texts for the week (Old Testament/New Testament/Psalm/Epistle) as a basis for discussion. The goal of the class is to not only enhance class members' understanding of the Scripture, but also to look to  The Word for guidance, direction, and inspiration in our daily journey.

Nest:  Located in the conference room next to rear entrance and fellowship hall. General age range: couples and single parents with young children and teens. Teachers: Clay and Jane Mason.

We use a variety of curriculum and study Christian core values, actions, traits, attitudes, as well as character studies of significant people in the Bible.

Pairs and Spares: Located by the balcony door in the second floor of the Moffatt building. General age range: 55+ men and women. This class is comprised of married and single folks. Teachers: Greg Gaby, Jim Richardson, and Don Hines

We use The Connections curriculum which presents an ecumenical mix of traditional Bible study (NRSV) and contemporary insight. Following the Revised Common Lectionary (RCL), Connections provides our class with a plan for reading and studying the Bible. It often corresponds to the sermon of the day. Our discussions help in knowing the content of the Bible, understanding its message, and responding to that message by living a life of faith and love.

Pollyanna Class: Located on the second floor of the Moffatt education building and left off of the elevator. General age range: women who range in age from 50-80+. Teachers: Carolyn McElroy, Adell Kemper, and Rosie Smith.

Much of our study is taken from the Smyth and Helwys Formations curriculum. Everyone has the opportunity to discuss and have input for each lesson. We strive to understand God's word and demonstrate His love and grace through our actions. In addition, the class places an emphasis on support for each other through struggling and difficult times. We also reach out to those in need in our church and our community.

Sojourners:  Located in the Nexus room, second classroom on the right. The Sojourners Class is a mixed-age adult Sunday School class. Different members of the class serve as teachers on a monthly basis with each one brining a unique approach to Bible study. Teachers: Elaine Greer, Janie Forman, Joel Jones, Melinda Simpson.
