What is your prayer for our church going forward?
By Linda McKinley
Having been a member of First Baptist Church forty-seven years, I have seen several generations of membership, children/youth ministry, and mission emphasis. I can say without reservation that our church, at this time of our Bicentennial, is the strongest and healthiest it has been since that day in 1969 I became a part of this church family.
Doug and I were so blessed to find FBC......the place where our children, Matt and Laura, grew in the knowledge of God's love and came to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. More recently, our grandsons, Christopher and Bradley have had the same experiences, being taught by committed and caring teachers who set personal examples.
Today FBC is in a wonderful and unique place. Through the leadership and vision of our outstanding ministerial staff, we are not only a caring family of believers within our own walls, but we extend that care, love, and compassion to the community and beyond. My prayer and hope for our church is that we never become content and complacent as we are, but continue to have goals and expectations, finding new and creative ways to serve our Lord in exciting and meaningful ways going forward.
Romans 12: 10-13 "Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with God's people who are in need. Practice hospitality."
